Drawing & Painting

Mr. Frank Sanchez will be providing his students with exceptional knowledge and expertise in drawing and oil painting. The classes will consist of four–one hour sessions. In the classes, the students will learn various styles of drawing, and oil painting. Basic mixing, technique, brush handling, brush up and patterning is also included.

Painting for Everyone

Come join us as we paint seasonal pictures. Class begins with teaching you to draw accurately before you begin your step-by-step paintings. Projects in this class include a 16x20 oil painting picture of your choice. Each session features a different picture.

Open Gym/Walking

The Village of Orland Hills Community Center Gymnasium is open various times through out the week and on Saturday for Open Gym time and walking.   Please call the rec hot-line for schedules.  There is a $1.00 fee for residents and $10.00 for nonresidents.  Resident familes are $2.00.  Please take note of the rules posted on the gymnasium door. In inclimate weather please, carry in gym shoes.


Follow the indoor track around the Community Center’s state of the art gymnasium. 15.4 times around the walking track is one mile.

Open Gym

A recreational activity for men, women and children who enjoy basketball as a form of working out and exercise. Participants should bring their own basketball and must carry in playing shoes. Please note sessions are divided into youth/adult/family times. Children under 12, must be accompanied by an adult.

Ashbourne Lake & Lake Lorin Permits

Fishing permits for the 2016-2017 fishing season (valid April 1, 2016 through March 31, 2017) are available for purchase at the Community Center, 16553 S. Haven Avenue and at the Village Hall, 16033 S. 94th Avenue. All anglers must have a Village Permit to fish. Fees are waived for physician-certified handicapped individuals. Please note that the Orland Hills Police Department and Village Game Wardens will be patrolling Ashbourne Lake and Lake Lorin. These Agencies will be enforcing the Village Fishing Permits. Noncompliance is subjected to ticketing and fines.

Illinois Urban Fishing Program
“Access to Fishing”

The Orland Hills Recreation in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is offering an “Access To Fishing Program” . This program is designed for residents who would like to fish but do not own fishing equipment. A participant would register at the Community Center and rent a fishing pole free of charge. The pole rental will last for one week from the date of registration. If the participant is under 16 years of age, a Illinois Driver’s License from a parent or guardian must accompany the registration form. The Recreation Department has rodsand available.
