Golf Lessons

White Mountain Golf Club offers golf lessons.  The session will consist of five-one hour lessons.  P.G.A. Professional, Dennis T. Piotrowski will be teaching the basic golf swing with wood and iron.  Putting, chipping, pitching and sand shot lessons are highlighted.  Bring your clubs to the first class.  No Class July 4th.

Horseback Riding By Forest View Farms

Learn the art of English or Western horsemanship and ride, groom, saddle and control your horse at a walk, trot and canter.  Orland Hills Recreation Department, in conjunction with Forest View Farms, is offering a five (5) week lesson package or five (5) trail rides through the beautiful Cook County Forest Preserve.  Beginners through Advanced are welcome.   This package rate can only be purchased twice in a calendar year.  Register at the Community Center.  Call the stable to arrange classes and bring your receipt to the first lesson.

Drawing & Painting

Mr. Frank Sanchez will be providing his students with exceptional knowledge and expertise in drawing and oil painting. The classes will consist of four–one hour sessions. In the classes, the students will learn various styles of drawing, and oil painting. Basic mixing, technique, brush handling, brush up and patterning is also included.

Painting for Everyone

Come join us as we paint seasonal pictures. Class begins with teaching you to draw accurately before you begin your step-by-step paintings. Projects in this class include a 16x20 oil painting picture of your choice. Each session features a different picture.

Open Gym/Walking

The Village of Orland Hills Community Center Gymnasium is open various times through out the week and weekend for Open Gym time and walking. Listed below is a schedule of times for Open Gym and walking. Please note times and availability. Please take note of the rules posted on the gymnasium door. In inclimate weather please, carry in gym shoes.


Follow the indoor track around the Community Center’s state of the art gymnasium. 15.4 times around the walking track is one mile. Walking is available for members of the walking club on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 8:00-10:00 am.  General walking is also available for residents on Thursday from 7:30-8:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:00-10:00 am for no charge.

Open Gym

A recreational activity for men, women and children who enjoy basketball as a form of working out and exercise. Participants should bring their own basketball and must carry in playing shoes. Please note sessions are divided into youth/adult/family times. Children under 12, must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $1.00 fee for residents and $10.00 for nonresidents. Resident families are $2.00.

Ashbourne Lake & Lake Lorin Permits

Fishing permits for the 2017-2018 fishing season (valid April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018) are available for purchase at the Community Center, 16553 S. Haven Avenue and at the Village Hall, 16033 S. 94th Avenue. All anglers must have a Village Permit to fish. Fees are waived for physician-certified handicapped individuals. Please note that the Orland Hills Police Department and Village Game Wardens will be patrolling Ashbourne Lake and Lake Lorin. These Agencies will be enforcing the Village Fishing Permits. Noncompliance is subjected to ticketing and fines.

ALL FEES WILL CONSIST OF ONE PERMIT FOR ASHBOURNE LAKE AND LAKE LORIN. All fees help subsidize a portion of the annual fish stocking, lake and park maintenance, aerations, erosion and weed control.

Illinois Urban Fishing Program
“Access to Fishing”

The Orland Hills Recreation in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is offering an “Access To Fishing Program” . This program is designed for residents who would like to fish but do not own fishing equipment. A participant would register at the Community Center and rent a fishing pole free of charge. The pole rental will last for one week from the date of registration. If the participant is under 16 years of age, a Illinois Driver’s License from a parent or guardian must accompany the registration form. All participants will receive an educational packet with fishing goodies included. The Recreation Department has rods, reels and fishing supplies available. Catch & Release Fish Program Update!

The Recreation Department would like to thank all resident anglers for complying with the “Catch and Release Fish Program”.  All species of fish that are caught are released. All anglers should be commended for their past and present cooperation. — Thank you.

Registration will begin 1/2 hour before the start of contest times. A trophy presentation will be made after each age classification. Nonresident must purchase permit to be allowed to fish.
