Holiday Happenings

Beginning October 2nd, residents may pick up a picture entry at the Community Center. Age groups are 4-6 yrs., 7-9 yrs. and 10-12 yrs. Winners will be announced on October 16th.

Open to all residents in the Village of Orland Hills. Please call the Rec. Hotline at 708-349-7211 to register your house. Please pick up a House Decorating Rule Sheet at the Community Center. Awards will be presented to the three best decorated homes.

Judging Wednesday, October 25th • 7:00-9:00 pm

Come join us for the 30th Annual Halloween Costume Bash. Costume judging will begin promptly at 10am. Festivities include live music, treats and costume judging. Saturday, October 28th • 10:00 am - 12:00 noon Community Center, 16553 S. Haven Avenue

From November 13th - December 10th, Orland Hills children ages 2-8 yrs. may drop off a letter for Santa at the Community Center or Village Hall. Please include your name and address so Santa can write back!

Beginning November 29th, residents may pick up a picture entry at the Community Center. Children 4-12 years are eligible to participate. Winners announced December 13th.

Beginning November 29th, residents may stop by the Community Center to count the candy in the jar! The resident who guesses the correct amount wins the jar of candy. Only one guess per person, a drawing will decide the winner in case of a tie. Guesses over the actual candy amount do not qualify. Winner will be announced on December 13th.

Start the Holiday Season by welcoming Santa to Orland Hills. Santa will arrive by helicopter at Kelly Park, 167th & Haven Avenue, on Saturday, December 2nd at 10:00 am. Hot chocolate, cookies and Christmas music will add to the excitement. Santa will be on hand to greet residents prior to boarding his horse drawn carriage. Santa will ride down the Village streets to greet residents.

Complete the Santa’s Calling Fact Sheet and Santa will call your child, 6 yrs or younger. Additional forms will be available at the Community Center November 15th - December 5th, Orland Hills residents only

All Aboard the Polar Express!! The Polar Express will leave the 18001 / 80th Avenue Tinley Park Train Station for a trip to the North Pole (Joliet Train Station.) Hot Chocolate will be served leaving the Tinley Park Train Station. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All children 9 months and younger do not need a ticket. Registration ends November 15th or until tickets are sold out.
